Comedian Okey Bakassi calls for a shift to polygamy in Africa, saying monogamy is not working in the region’s cultural and social context.
Nigerian comedian and actor Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, widely recognized as Okey Bakassi, has asserted that polygamy represents the most suitable form of marriage for Africa, arguing that monogamy is failing.
During his appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, he suggested that many individuals are merely feigning happiness within monogamous unions.
He stated, “Disregard the superficial praise we give to polygamy; I maintain that it is the optimal marital structure for Africa. Monogamy is ineffective.
We are living a pretense. The distinction between polygamy and monogamy lies in the former allowing simultaneous marriages, while the latter necessitates the abandonment of one partner.
What if one does not wish to part with either?”
