Incoming first lady Melania Trump has appointed her longtime aide, Hayley Harrison, as the East Wing’s chief of staff. Harrison, who has been a key part of the First Lady’s team for the past seven years, is known for her strong understanding of White House operations.
In her new role, Harrison will oversee the East Wing staff and work closely with other parts of the government, according to a statement from Melania Trump’s office on social media platform X. This marks Trump’s first hire in the East Wing since her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, won the 2024 presidential election.
During Trump’s first term, Stephanie Grisham served as the first lady’s chief of staff but resigned after the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. While Melania Trump largely stayed out of the spotlight during the 2024 campaign, she did host two fundraisers for the LGBTQ group Log Cabin Republicans.
Although she did not attend her husband’s meeting with President Biden at the White House earlier this month, she garnered attention last month for publicly supporting abortion rights in her memoir, “Melania.”
