The Southwest Zonal Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has stated that Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, is no longer a member of the union. The chairman called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address Oluomo’s actions, which allegedly undermine the NURTW’s authority and operations in Lagos State.
In a statement reported by Sahara Reporters, the chairman clarified that MC Oluomo’s faction was suspended and does not represent the NURTW. He accused Oluomo of using his influence to destabilize union activities in the region.
“MC Oluomo’s activities are a direct challenge to our leadership and the unity of the union. We urge President Tinubu to caution him and ensure proper conduct,” the chairman said.
The conflict stems from internal disputes within the NURTW that led to MC Oluomoβs suspension and his subsequent establishment of a rival faction. Critics argue that his continued dominance in Lagos undermines the union’s objectives and creates unnecessary tensions.
President Tinubu, who has longstanding ties to Lagos politics, is being urged to mediate the situation to ensure fairness and restore order in the state’s transport sector.
