-Sowore and his delegation drove to Abiola’s house without following protocols after the annulment of the June 12 election to discuss Abiola’s readiness for the political battle ahead.
-During the meeting, Abiola offered Sowore N800,000 for transportation, but Sowore rejected the money, stating it was insufficient for their journey and not the reason for their visit.
-Sowore criticized the politicians present, claiming they were only interested in Abiola’s money and would betray him. Sowore’s firm stance was supported by Chief Anthony Enahoro.
-The iconic photo of Sowore with Abiola was taken after the meeting when Sowore and his delegation were escorted out by Abiola. Sowore didn’t see the photo until it was sent to him in 2018 after the photographer, Tunji Oyelero, passed away.
