Charity, they say, begins at home. On October 31, 2024, Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa, received resounding support from his home base as he prepares for the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024.
A prominent political leader from the Ilaje Local Government Area, Chief Olusola Oke, organized a significant gathering of distinguished sons and daughters of Ilaje, including both local residents and those from abroad. The assembly represented all demographics: youth, elders, women’s groups, and various trade associations, such as fishermen, fish traders, drivers’ unions, as well as religious leaders, local chiefs, and heads of traditional institutions. Together, they united to endorse Governor Aiyedatiwa at the “Ilaje Summit,” held at William’s Hall in Igbokoda.
Chief Olusola Oke, speaking on behalf of the Ilaje people, presented a resolution of support for Governor Aiyedatiwa. He stated that all religious leaders, traditional rulers, chiefs, artisans, youths, and fishermen are united in backing their son for governor. Chief Oke emphasized that having an Ilaje native lead Ondo State fulfills a long-standing dream for the people. Confident in his leadership, he expressed their belief that with Aiyedatiwa as governor, the needs and aspirations of the people would be prioritised, solidifying their commitment to support him.
In response, the Governor promised not to disappoint the Ilaje people, assuring them of unprecedented development. He also presented updates and architectural designs of
the Alignment of the Ondo State 63 KM Segment of the Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway, highlighting the project’s anticipated benefits for the Ilaje community’s growth and advancement.
Earlier, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa hosted the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and his entourage during a Town Hall Meeting and Stakeholders’ Engagement to unveil the Ondo State 63 km segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The event took place at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Alagbaka-Akure.
The Governor expressed his deep gratitude to the people, pledging to devote his time and effort to the development of Ondo State.
In a unified voice, the attendees pledged their full support and votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in the upcoming election. They also expressed their desire for accountability, project development, and inclusiveness within the Aiyedatiwa-led administration.
