-The students, led by Students’ Union President Mary Abiodun, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to FERMA and the Federal Government to start repairs or face road blockages.
-FUOYE students highlighted the loss of over 10 lives due to accidents on the road, including a recent graduate’s death, with placards calling for immediate action.
-FERMA’s Federal Road Maintenance Engineer, Simon Adeniyi, assured the students that the government had awarded a contract for concrete road repairs and that palliative measures would begin soon.
-The Oye–Ikole Road, a vital connection between Abuja and southwestern states, has been in disrepair for years, heavily impacting the local community and leading to frequent accidents.
