First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) has announced its intention to host the inaugural China-Africa Interbank Association (CAIBA) forum in Nigeria, aimed at enhancing economic relations and investment opportunities between China and Africa.
Folake Ani-Mumuney, the group head of marketing and corporate communications at FBN, revealed details of the event, which is set to take place on November 27 at the Fraiser Suites in Abuja.
The forum will center on the theme of “Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Strengthening China-Africa Trade, Industrialisation and Economic Diversification.”
Established in 2018, CAIBA seeks to foster financial collaboration between China and Africa, focusing on infrastructure development, international cooperation, and cultural exchange.
The association includes 16 African banks, such as FirstBank, alongside prominent institutions like China Development Bank and Ecobank.
Ani-Mumuney emphasized that this initiative aims to tackle the funding challenges faced by Africa in areas such as industrialization, infrastructure, and poverty alleviation, highlighting the forum’s potential for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaborative development among member banks.
