▪️Tanzania became the first East African country to have an electric railway system
▪️The country has completed the electric phase between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma
▪️The distance is estimated as 440 KMs, and currently, Tanzania ranks 6th in Africa with the longest Electrified Railway System
▪️With 15% of its railway system electrified, the country ranks 2nd in Africa on the % of electrified railway from the entire railway system
▪️The 440 KMs railway system cost about 3.1 Billion USD
▪️With a maximum speed of 160 KMs/HR for the train, this has cut down the travelling distance between the two cities from 10 hrs to 4 hours.
