The Delta State Government has approved a budget proposal of N936 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.
The budget proposal, which will be transmitted to the Delta State Assembly, is made up of recurrent expenditure of N348, 717, 758, 635, representing 37.25 per cent of the budget and capital expenditure of N587, N587,361,060, 084 representing 62.75 per cent of the budget.
Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Sunny Ekedayen, flanked by Commissioner for Information, Ifeanyi Osuoza, Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads) Charles Aniagwu and Commissioner for Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the State Executive Council, SEC, presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Monday.
“By way of comparison, the budget proposal for 2025 is 29.12 per cent bigger than that of the current year 2024. Emphasis, as always, is on the focus areas: agriculture; micro, small, and medium enterprises; youths; tourism and entertainment; social safety and poverty alleviation; physical infrastructure and education,” he said.
