On Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign in Ondo State witnessed a remarkable show of solidarity and community support as Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, joined by Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, the Member representing Akoko Northeast/Northwest in the National Assembly, brought the campaign to Akoko North East local government. The campaign stop in Ikare Akoko featured notable defections, endorsements, and a vibrant turnout from the people of Akoko North East.
As the Governor and his team arrived, Hon. Ehindero warmly received them, accompanied by local leaders, stakeholders, and traditional rulers who all pledged their support. Hon. Ehindero, extended deep gratitude to the community and APC members for their steadfast loyalty. “Today’s overwhelming turnout is a testament to the faith the people have in our vision,” Hon. Ehindero noted. “Our traditional rulers, stakeholders, and community members here in Akoko North East have always been strong pillars of support, and I appreciate every one of you for your commitment to our shared progress.”
During the rally, Hon. Ehindero also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, emphasizing the Governor’s dedication to equitable development and sustainable growth in Ondo State. “Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown exemplary commitment to the people of Ondo State,” he stated. “His administration’s progress across infrastructure, agriculture, and education has impacted lives across the region, and I am confident in the vision he holds for an even better future.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude for the support shown by the people of Akoko North East and acknowledged the significant role played by the traditional rulers, including the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Momoh, and the Owa-Ale of Iyometa, Oba Adeleke Adegbite. Receiving their blessings, he noted, “The strength of Ondo State lies in communities like Ikare Akoko. The support of our royal fathers has been invaluable in shaping our journey, and we remain committed to ensuring that their voices are reflected in our plans for the state.”
The campaign rally also saw the high-profile defections of former PDP leaders Hon. Stephen Olemija, former House of Representatives member, and Lekan Bada, former PDP candidate for the constituency. Their decision to join APC marks a significant shift in local political support, highlighting the Governor’s growing influence and the trust placed in his leadership.
