The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Accord party has sanctioned the expulsion and suspension of several party members.
This decision was announced in a statement by National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem and National Secretary Adebukola A. Ajaja following a meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The NEC reviewed findings from a seven-member Disciplinary Committee established by the National Working Committee (NWC) to investigate allegations of serious misconduct, anti-party actions, and violations of the party’s constitution.
Consequently, eight members were expelled and three others suspended for breaching specific articles of the party constitution.
The expelled individuals include notable figures such as Professor Christopher Imumolen, the former presidential candidate, and various state chairpersons.
The suspended members are the chairpersons from Katsina, Yobe, and Bauchi states.
The NEC underscored the importance of maintaining order within the party to prevent chaos and emphasized the necessity of adhering to the party’s constitution.
Additionally, the committee expressed its confidence in Maxwell Mgbudem’s leadership and invited back members who had been misled by Imumolen, who was accused of attempting to undermine the party’s stability and reputation.
