Senator Abaribe believes Nigeria would have progressed better if Peter Obi had won the 2023 presidential election. Read more.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, asserted that Nigeria would be in a more favorable position today had Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, emerged victorious.
He criticized the current administration under President Bola Tinubu for fostering nepotism, claiming that such practices would have been absent in an Obi-led government.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Abaribe emphasized that Obi’s leadership would have prioritized inclusivity and fairness, contrasting it with the current government’s approach, which he believes has deepened the issue of nepotism initiated by former President Buhari.
He also urged the people of the South-East to take proactive steps to improve their region rather than relying on presidential fairness, noting that only a few past leaders have been just to them.
Additionally, Abaribe welcomed the arrest of Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra in exile, viewing it as a positive development that could deter violence instigated by such figures.
He concluded by stating that the release of Nnamdi Kanu could help end the violence in the South-East.
