New York State Attorney General Letitia James vowed to continue fighting against Donald Trump’s presidency, stating that her office is prepared to take action if necessary.
In a statement to reporters, she emphasized that while her office is open to working with the administration if possible, they would not compromise on their values, integrity, or principles.
James expressed her readiness to respond to the outcome of the election, reiterating that her office is “prepared to fight back once again.”
James also highlighted her office’s history of challenging the Trump administration, citing nearly 100 legal actions taken against his presidency, including efforts to block White House attempts to eliminate federal grants for law enforcement agencies.
Despite Trump’s potential ability to pardon himself for federal crimes, James pointed out that he cannot pardon himself for state convictions in New York or the charges related to Georgia’s 2020 election case.
She assured that, along with other Democratic Attorneys General, she was prepared to continue defending citizens’ rights and to confront any challenges from the next administration.
