Save the Children International predicts that an additional one million children in Nigeria will suffer from acute malnutrition by April 2025 unless urgent action is taken.
-An analysis by Cadre HarmonisΓ© revealed that 5.4 million children are at risk of malnutrition, a 25% increase from the previous year.
-Conflict, insecurity, and climate change are identified as major factors driving the malnutrition and food insecurity crisis, with 33 million people, including 16 million children, expected to face food insecurity in 2025.
-Aisha, a mother of six, highlighted the impact of hunger on her daughter’s growth, while 15-year-old Hajara, a child campaigner, called on leaders to provide security and support for children.
-Save the Children urged governments to tackle food insecurity, stabilize food prices, and protect farmers to address the ongoing crisis.
