Kogi State has begun establishing a special economic zone within the Ajaokuta economic development corridor, aiming to boost the state’s economy.
-Governor Ahmed Ododo visited Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority headquarters (NEPZA) in Abuja to seek support for the project, which has been in planning for over a decade.
-The zone will leverage Kogiās natural resources, arable land, and skilled workforce, potentially creating thousands of jobs and turning Kogi into a major economic hub in Nigeria.
-NEPZAās Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, committed to providing timely approvals, licenses, and other necessary support for the project.
-The state government has allocated 3,000 hectares within Ajaokuta for the project, which will be financed through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.
