NNPC addresses the claims about adulterated petrol in the market, detailing steps being taken to monitor and maintain fuel integrity.”
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has categorically rejected allegations of distributing adulterated petrol, which emerged from a viral video.
In a statement released on Thursday, Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to upholding stringent quality standards throughout its operations.
He emphasized that NNPC Retail Ltd does not engage in the sale of adulterated products, as it implements comprehensive quality control measures to ensure that only safe and reliable petroleum products are available at its stations across the nation.
Responding to the viral video, Soneye refuted claims that the fuel depicted was purchased from an NNPC Retail outlet, particularly one allegedly situated at the Keffi Flyover in Nasarawa State.
He stated that the company conducted inspections at all its outlets and found the allegations to be unfounded, clarifying that NNPC does not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans as shown in the video.
Soneye urged the public to dismiss the misleading claims and to be cautious of individuals promoting such narratives, which he described as unpatriotic.
He reiterated NNPCL’s commitment to maintaining accurate pump integrity through regular inspections and calibrations to ensure consistency across its stations nationwide.
