In a bid to restore Imo State’s historic assets and enhance tourism, Governor Hope Uzodimma has launched renovations on the iconic Concorde Hotel in Owerri. Known for its 245-room luxury setup, Concorde Hotel was once a symbol of pride in Imo State and the entire South-East region but had fallen into disrepair over the years.
The governor’s initiative will not only restore the hotel’s past glory but also modernize its facilities to meet current hospitality standards, positioning Imo as a prime tourist destination. The hotel renovation is part of Uzodimma’s broader plan to revive neglected state-owned properties, create jobs, and stimulate the economy. Residents in Imo are pleased with the governor’s commitment to reviving Concorde Hotel.
Jonathan Amadi, an Imo indigene, expressed his approval, stating, “The poor state of Concorde Hotel was embarrassing for us. We’re glad the governor is fixing it.” Similarly, Ebere Uzoh praised Uzodimma’s approach, saying, “Governor Hope Uzodimma has shown that he is a different kind of governor. Some other governors would prefer to sell off the hotel, but he is renovating it. We are happy, and we thank God.”
The hotel’s facelift is expected to attract more tourists and business travelers, which should help boost local businesses, create jobs, and support the economy. The renovation project has already created construction jobs, with additional employment opportunities in hospitality and tourism anticipated once the hotel reopens.
