Nigerian politician Peter Obi shares his views on marriage and forgiveness, saying he wouldn’t divorce his wife even if she cheated.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 general election, recently expressed his firm beliefs on commitment and loyalty within marriage. He stated that divorce would never be an option for him, even in the face of infidelity.
Obi disclosed this information on The Honest Bunch podcast, which is hosted by the well-known comedian and actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu Wazobia.
Obi shared insights into his marriage with Margaret Brownson, emphasizing the principles that guide their relationship.
The former governor of Anambra State stressed the significance of unwavering support and loyalty, stating that he would stand by his wife’s side in any situation, even when faced with challenges related to infidelity.
He affirmed, “No matter what happens today, I won’t divorce my wife. I can’t separate from her; it’s impossible for me. Even if she were to shoot me—as long as I’m alive—she remains my wife.”
Regardless of her actions, I won’t marry anyone else. She’s my wife. She can do whatever she wants; nothing she does could offend me. Even if it’s having an extramarital affair, that’s her choice and not a reflection on me. People will say that Peter Obi is a good man married to someone with questionable choices, and that’s all there is to it!
“You can’t measure my life by comparing it to that of my wife or children. We lead different lifestyles. Even when we travel together, people have noticed this difference—for instance, sometimes we’re on the same flight but in separate classes.”
She is in business class while I’m in economy. This arrangement works for her and doesn’t conflict with my interests,” the presidential candidate concluded.
Obi’s remarks ignite conversations on social media, with numerous individuals sharing their thoughts on his perspectives regarding loyalty, marriage, and forgiveness.
