The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed two additional cases of Clade Ib mpox, bringing the country’s total to three. These new infections were traced to household contacts of the initial case, highlighting the virus’s potential for rapid spread in close-contact settings.
Both patients are receiving specialist care at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. While the risk to the general population remains low, health officials are closely monitoring contacts, offering testing and vaccinations, and continuing to implement measures to prevent further transmission.
