Court remands Lagos teacher for alleged s3xual ass@ult of 6-year-old pupil
A 25-year-old teacher, Omobolanle Micheal Olaniyi, has been remanded in a custodial centre by an Ikeja S3xual Offences and Domestic Violence Court over the alleged s3xual ass@ult of a six-year-old pupil.
The Lagos State Police Command arraigned Olaniyi on Monday, November 4, 2024.
The suspect who was arr£sted July 24, 2023, was being charged with the indecent treatment of a child and s3xual ass@ult by p3netration.
According to the pr0secuting counsel, B. E. Okeowo, the offences contravene Sections 135 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The alleged ass@ult occurred at Oliver Care Montessori School Ogba where Olaniyi was a teacher and the v!ctim a pupil.
According to the charges, Olaniyi indecently touched the v!ctim’s butt0cks, carried her on his lap and s3xually ass@ulted her by ins£rting his f!ngers into her v@gina.
“Omobolanle Michael Olaniyi, sometime in July 2023, at the Oliver Care Montessori School, Ogba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Judicial Division did tr£at one (name withheld) female, aged six-year-old indecently by touching her butt0cks and carrying her on your laps,” the charge read.
“Omobolanle Michael Olaniyi, sometime in July 2023 at the Oliver Care Montessori School, Ogba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Judicial Division did s3xually p£n£trate one (name withheld) aged six-year-old by inserting your f!nger into her v@gina.”
The accùsed, however, pleaded not gu!lty to the charges brought against him.
In his ruling, Justice Ramon Oshodi ordered that the suspect be held in a custodial centre and adjourned the ca.se to February 4, 2025, for further proceedings.
