NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE COURSE 33 PARTICIPANTS VISIT 3 DIVISION NIGERIAN ARMY AND OPERATION SAFE HAVEN
As part of their National Tour of States, participants from the National Defence College (NDC) Course 33 are visiting Plateau State from November 3 to 9, 2024. Led by College Provost Professor AO Ahmed, the delegation arrived at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos and comprises 22 participants and 4 faculty members. The group includes representatives from Burkina Faso, Gambia, India, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, as well as officials from the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Plateau State Government.
Upon their arrival, the delegation attended a briefing at the 3 Division auditorium. Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), warmly welcomed the team, expressing his pleasure at hosting them. He encouraged the visitors to enjoy Plateau State’s refreshing climate, rich culture, and hospitality. Major General Abubakar noted that the state remains largely peaceful, owing to OPSH’s balanced use of kinetic and non-kinetic approaches, which have been effective in maintaining stability. He emphasized that OPSH remains a people-focused operation, adapting continuously to resolve emerging conflicts. After the welcome address, the delegation received an operational briefing detailing the history, challenges, and accomplishments of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH).
Team Leader Professor AO Ahmed expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the security provided throughout their stay. He acknowledged the GOC’s remarkable efforts in maintaining peace on the Plateau, noting, “The military holds a special place in my heart, and I will cherish the time spent with the military.”
Group Captain EF Enebi, delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the team, commended Major General Abubakar for his insights and encouragement. He assured the GOC that the knowledge gained would be beneficial to the college’s program. Earlier in the day, the delegation visited Plateau State Governor Barrister Caleb Manase Muftwang and His Royal Majesty, Da Dr Jacob Buba Gyang, the Gbong Gwom Jos.
The event concluded with high points, including the exchange of souvenirs, group photographs, and signing of the visitor’s book.
