EPL: Rúben Amorim Reflects on Opportunity to Manage Manchester City
Rúben Amorim admits he contemplated taking the Manchester City managerial role, offering insight into his career decisions in the EPL.
Rúben Amorim has acknowledged that he considered the possibility of Hugo Viana, Sporting CP’s director of football, moving to Manchester City.
Nonetheless, the 39-year-old maintains that his sole focus was on becoming Manchester United’s new head coach.
On Tuesday night, Amorim will lead his team for the final time at home in a Champions League match against City.
Amorim is anticipated to return to his role at Old Trafford on November 11.
Two weeks after City named Viana as Txiki Begiristain’s successor for the upcoming season, he decided to replace Erik ten Hag.
Amorim has mentioned that he has considered the possibility of working at Etihad Stadium.
He stated: “I’ve made my decision, and that’s the club I want to work for. That’s where I wish to continue my career as a coach.”
I considered it briefly, but ultimately chose the club I wanted. My decision was Manchester United, and that’s where I went.
