I Almost Poisoned Myself”: Eniola Ajao Shares the Dark Side of Fake News
Actress Eniola Ajao shares a powerful story about the damaging effects of fake news, revealing it nearly led her to self-poisoning.
Eniola Ajao, a well-known Yoruba actress and filmmaker, has shared that false information spread on social media nearly led her to consider self-poisoning.
The actress revealed this while discussing her experiences in a recent interview with Nollywood on Radio.
Sharing her encounter with fake news, Ajao explained that she experienced intense emotional distress, which also caused her to retreat from social activities.
I nearly harmed myself after encountering false news about me on social media. It was the first time I faced something so distressing that I couldn’t eat for a week and stayed home throughout, with those around me able to attest to it.
“My sisters were urging me, saying, ‘You need to do this for yourself. You don’t have to harm yourself.’ My son was contacting everyone because I was having a hard time dealing with the online falsehoods.”
