Human Rights Radio has temporarily suspended its broadcasts in response to the unjust arrest of minors, highlighting ongoing human rights issues. Learn more about their mission and the protest.
Human Rights Radio, an Abuja station owned by activist Ahmed Isah, has ceased broadcasting in protest against the detention of minors involved in the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Isah, renowned for hosting the station’s popular Berekete Family breakfast program, announced its shutdown on Monday. He expressed shock and anger upon discovering the situation involving minors.
Around 8:20 a.m., Isah called into the program to express his frustration and demanded that the station stop broadcasting immediately.
He announced that Human Rights Radio would stay off-air until Tuesday, when additional discussions on the matter were scheduled to occur.
The station is anticipated to temporarily restart broadcasting on Wednesday, enabling listeners to call in and express their opinions on the issue.
The arrest of the minors has ignited public outrage, intensifying the growing pressure on President Tinubu’s administration following last week’s widespread circulation of images of the children online.
