Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has committed to ensuring the safe return of minors from the state who face charges of arson, treason, and other offenses in a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The 76 suspects, mostly minors, were arrested during the August #EndBadGovernance protests for vandalism, attacking police, and chanting anti-government slogans.
However, commotion erupted at the Federal High Court in Abuja as some minors collapsed while awaiting their arraignment.
In response to the incident on his X page, the Kano governor announced that he has instructed the Kano attorney-general and commissioner of justice to take immediate action regarding the matter.
He wrote, “My attention has been drawn to the appearance of teenagers (some believed to be from Kano) in court today in Abuja.
“The Commissioner of Justice has been instructed to act immediately on the issue. We shall do everything possible to get them back to Kano, in sha Allah.”
