Labour leaders in Benue State are currently negotiating with the government regarding the new minimum wage.
The Chairman of the Trade Union Congress in Benue, Gideon Akaa, refuted claims on social media that the state government proposed N40,000 as the new minimum wage. The labour representatives have suggested minimum wage amounts of N75,000 and N77,000 during the negotiations.
As of now, no agreement has been reached between the labour leaders and the government. Akaa made these statements during a telephone conversation with journalists, emphasizing the need for clarity on the issue.

He confirmed that negotiations with the government are still in progress and no final amount has been agreed upon. Akaa expressed confusion about the source of the N40,000 rumor, stating that it has not been mentioned in negotiations.
