As part of his youth empowerment initiatives, the lawmaker representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Hon Alex Ikwechegh, Onyeocha n’Aba has inaugurated the training of 5,000 youths in various skills of their choice.
The training which kicked off yesterday, at the Riverside Primary School, Aba, focuses on solar energy installation, fashion designing, shoe making, hair dressing, Artificial Intelligence, Aluminum works and many more.
Speaking to Magic FM, Hon. Ikwechehgh who was represented by Rotarian George Ezeikpe said the commencement of the training is part of fulfilling his campaign promises.
One of the trainers, who is the founder and CEO of Aba made, Ikenna Chike-Obi, while speaking to magic FM correspondent Carol Nwakanma, emphasized that the training which would be done in batches kicked off with the first 500 trainees noting that participants would receive start-up equipment, funding and logistical support to help them establish their businesses.
For some of the participants, including Mr. Uzochi Godswill, they lauded the lawmaker for bringing such a transformative program to the constituency, describing it as a vital step toward sustainable development and addressing the unemployment crisis in Abia state.
The initiative aims to reduce youth unemployment in Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency by promoting self-reliance and fostering economic growth.
