The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently uncovered a warehouse in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, housing significant quantities of expired and unregistered food products. Following a raid by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team, the warehouse was revealed to be preparing expired goods for revalidation and resale to unsuspecting consumers.
The operation extended to a supermarket in Wuse 2, Abuja, where revalidated items from the warehouse were allegedly being sold. Both locations have since been sealed off for further investigation.
Among the expired items confiscated were Cornitos Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, Nacho Crisp, Paneer Makhani, Palak Paneer, and Dal Tadka, with the total haul valued at around 87.5 million naira.
NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant, especially during this festive season, and to report any suspicious food items to the nearest NAFDAC office.
