The Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced it has not received authorization from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to supply petrol to members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN). This statement followed concerns from oil dealers about the refinery’s pricing and access to petrol, with IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi revealing his members were unable to lift petrol for nearly four days despite claims of ample supply.
Dangote clarified that no payments from IPMAN have been received, as funds were directed to NNPC, which has not approved sales to independent marketers. The refinery can meet national demand and urged IPMAN members to engage directly for purchases, while PETROAN called for transparency in pricing. Meanwhile, the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria reassured the public that sufficient petrol supplies are available.
