Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, National Coordinator of the South-South Elders Forum, shared his perspective on the strained relationship between Governor Siminalayi Fubara (Sim) and Nyesom Wike, suggesting that Fubara still harbors respect and a protective stance towards Wike despite recent tensions. He indicated that while Fubara continues to value Wike’s interests, pushing him too hard could lead to a breaking point.
Sara-Igbe referenced Fubara’s own words, noting that Wike’s excessive pressure could force the governor into a situation he might later regret. This statement underscores the delicate balance in their dynamic and the potential consequences of prolonged confrontation.
He said in a interview with Symfoni, “Sim is not right to fight him. Sim still loves him. My encounter with Sim shows that Sim still has interest in Wike and is still protecting his interest. But there’s a way you push a man to the wall, and he will react. He himself knows that nobody will touch him as a governor. But by the time you push him too hard, you will know yourself. He confessed it in the video: if you push him too hard, he will find himself in a mess that he would never come out of.”
