* Made distress calls to the government and all critical stakeholders to cushion the negative impact of the flood and tackle future occurrences.
The Ondo Northwest LCDA transition Chairman, Honourable Onidare Sunday Bukunmi (OSB), early this morning made a tour around the major areas in Ondo City affected by the flooding which displaced many and charted away valuable materials as well as destroyed properties.
Hon Onidare, while expressing his regret over the disaster experienced in major parts of the city, noted that it remains sacrosanct for the government and critical stakeholders to up their various tasks and sense of responsibility to the people through making adequate preparations even before an event like this takes place.
He pleaded with the residents who were affected by this disaster to maintain calm, noting that the executive governor upon receiving this news had shifted swiftly to action and have charged the concerned agency and commissioned a few pragmatic teams to look into the impacts of yesterday’s flood and ensure that they ameliorate the suffering being experienced by the victims with immediate effect.
He assured residents that the governor is working on relief materials that will help cushion the effect of the disaster, while also ensuring that future occurrences are averted.
He called out on other critical stakeholders, philanthropists and well-to-do individuals within and outside the state to join him in considering complementing government efforts by also reaching out in various ways to the victims of this sad event, most especially low-income earners who as a result of this incident had their means of livelihood or homes deeply affected on the negative.
