Following the recent flooding in various parts of Ondo city, which has persisted for over 72 hours, I conducted an on-the-spot assessment to evaluate the situation. It is apparent that this flooding has caused significant damage to infrastructure, property, and has threatened the safety of our citizens.
In response, H.E Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo state has swiftly activated all relevant agencies, including Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency (OSEPA), the Ministry of Environment, and relevant security outfits, to address the immediate concerns.
His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State, remains fully committed to the safety and well-being of all citizens, he has directed the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency (OSEPA) to take immediate action by demolishing all structures illegally built on canals, water channels, and drainage systems. These obstructions have been identified as major contributors to the flooding crisis. The Governor emphasizes that this decisive step is necessary to restore the free flow of water and prevent future flooding, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
Furthermore, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this disaster. The Ondo State Government under H.E Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is committed to ensuring that all necessary resources are deployed to safeguard lives and properties. We are putting every hand on deck to restore normalcy and protect our citizens from further harm.
