We are fully committed to hosting a world-class 2024 National Sports Festival this January, and preparations are well underway to ensure a memorable event. After inspecting the MKO Abiola Stadium and the Ijeja Sports Centre, we are pleased to see impressive progress on facility upgrades, including an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis and handball courts, and new turf for the main stadium.
These renovations mark the first significant improvements in over 30 years, demonstrating our dedication to building facilities that will serve as a lasting legacy for future generations.
The festival will be a unique experience, with all athletes staying together in a central Games Village, fostering unity and community among participants.
This setup reinforces Ogun State’s commitment to sports development, showcasing our readiness to host large-scale, high-quality events. By hosting the National Sports Festival, we are putting Ogun State on the national map and positioning our state as a center for sports excellence.
Beyond the games, we see this as an opportunity to engage and empower our youth, promoting values like teamwork, discipline, and leadership. With these world-class facilities, we are confident that Ogun State will attract future investment, creating a premier training ground where young athletes can hone their skills and prepare for national and international competitions.
We eagerly await the festival’s kickoff on January 12, 2025, and look forward to welcoming athletes, officials, and spectators to Ogun State for an unforgettable experience.
