The Jigawa State government has issued a stern warning to private schools, threatening closures over non-compliance with regulations. Learn more about the latest education policy.
The Jigawa State Ministry of Education has warned that it may close private schools running junior and senior secondary school programs without undergoing the official upgrading process mandated by the ministry.
This information was included in a statement signed by Malam Musa A. Ya’u, the Director of Private Schools for the ministry, and released to journalists.
He stated that the Jigawa State Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology has established a committee to visit all private schools throughout the state in order to collect annual registration fees.
The ministry has called on proprietors to settle any outstanding debts. A team from the ministry will visit all private schools to confirm that these payments have been made by each institution.
However, Malam Musa A. Ya’u urged private schools operating without ministry approval to obtain it before the team arrives.
He cautioned that any private school starting junior or senior sections without obtaining an official upgrade from the ministry will be closed.
