…..Along Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka Road
Prof. Oguejiofo Ujam, a senior lecturer and Dean of the School of General Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), was abducted on Sunday along the Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road.
Reports indicate that this incident is part of a series of kidnappings that have occurred along this road in the past week.
Social media influencer Chijinkem Ugwuanyi shared on Facebook, “Prof. Oguejiofo T. Ujam was kidnapped yesterday morning along Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road. He is a lecturer in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry and Dean of the School of General Studies at UNN. We need prayers for his safe and unharmed return.”
Another lecturer, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident, noting that it was also shared on the WhatsApp page of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNN chapter. “Prof. Oguejiofor Ujam, the Dean of GS, was kidnapped this morning along Opi-Enugu Road. We urgently need help,” read the ASUU message.
There are growing concerns about the rise in abductions along the Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka Road, despite the presence of police and military checkpoints in the area. Reports suggest that multiple road users have been abducted daily over the past week.
