The recent news of the immediate suspension of Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, Vice Chancellor of IBB University Lapai, allegedly ordered by Governor Umar Bago of Niger State, has been debunked by the Niger State Ministry of Tertiary Education.
The Commissioner of Tertiary Education, Honourable Abdullahi Adamu Mammagi, set the record straight when contacted by Crusaders Radio, stating that the Vice Chancellor’s tenure is ending in December 2024
As expected, Professor Adamu will proceed on terminal leave and hand over his responsibilities to the DVC Admin, who will resumeĀ on November 1st 2024.
This is part of the normal process of transitioning to a new substantive Vice Chancellor, which has already been initiated. Therefore, reports of the Vice Chancellor’s suspension are malicious and incorrect.
It’s essential to note that Professor Adamu has been serving as the Vice Chancellor since December 2019, after being appointed by Abubakar Sani BelloĀ His tenure has been marked by significant achievements, and it’s only fitting that he hands over the reins to a new leader in an orderly manner.
Crusaders Radio also confirmed from other sources that the outgoing VC has been locked in internal crisis with the university union bodies over issues of high handedness in the management of the institution
Let’s keep the conversation going! What do you think about this development? Do you have any questions or concerns about the transition process at IBB University Lapai?
