Arewa Youth Assembly, a Civil Society Organisation that champions human capital and economic development of young people in the Northern part of the country, has felicitated the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu on her 38th birthday.
The group in a statement signed by its publicity Secretary, Aisha Nadodo, praised Dr Edu’s doggedness in bringing succour to internally displaced persons, IDPs in parts of the North.
Arewa youth Assembly also commended her for the unwavering mentorship of young people in the country.
The group recalled immediately after Dr Edu’s appointment as Minister last, rather than bask in the euphoria of her new status and celebrate, she elected to hit the ground running, visiting IDP camps in the North to distribute relief items and give the IDPs moral support.
“She is a symbol of humanity, a compassionate and goal- oriented young woman who is dedicated to serving humanity.
“We, the Arewa Youth Assembly deeply congratulate and felicitate our icon, our role model, Dr Betta Edu, on her birthday. She has been a huge source of inspiration to us in our quest for human capital and economic development of the young people in the North”, the group said.
Continuing, the Arewa Assembly appealed to Dr Edu for “a strategic partnership aimed at skill , vocational training and wealth creation for young people in the North”
“As our dear mentor and role model celebrates her 38th birth, Arewa yourh Assembly appeal for a special and strategic partnership with her for the purpose of empowering not just our members but also other willing young people in our region interested in being developed economically.
“This human capital and economic development and empowerment of our youths could take the form of periodic skill acquisition and wealth creation training for them to help tame the tide of restiveness in this part of the country where idle young people form a major chunk of the population” the group stressed.
