A heated exchange unfolds as Aisha Yesufu tells Seun Kuti he is a ‘product of Fela’s recklessness with women.’ Dive into the details of their intense back-and-forth.
Aisha Yesufu, the convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, has characterized popular Nigerian singer Seun Kuti as a result of Fela’s lack of discipline.
Aisha made these comments in response to Seun’s recent statements regarding her efforts to promote women’s freedom in Nigeria.
It was reported that the singer had previously clashed with Yesufu over her views on women’s freedom, stating, “Start by liberating yourself from your Hijab.”
In a series of posts on her X handle responding to Seun’s comments, Yesufu stated: “Seun Kuti wants to gain attention by using my name since his karaoke business hasn’t made him popular like those who are making music.”
“I don’t blame him! If his father had exercised some self-control, we wouldn’t be dealing with the consequences now.”
“A person whose shows people book because they want to see a caricature of his father, even if the real thing isn’t available.”
Reports indicate that Seun is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
