The Zamfara State Government’s Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning held a stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday to discuss the 2025 budget, aimed at providing a comprehensive plan for the future of the state.
The 2025 budget town hall meeting, held at the JB Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau, the state capital, was designed for the new Zamfara under the renewed hope agenda of the present administration led by Governor Dauda Lawal.
Speaking earlier, the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, who also serves as the chairman of the state committee on economic planning, Abdulmalik Gajam, stated that the 2025 budget stakeholders’ town hall meeting was intended to ensure that the budget directly improves the standard of living for the people in the state.
He said, “This 2025 budget stakeholders’ meeting was designed to provide a comprehensive plan for a better future and a new Zamfara State.”
According to him, the proposed budget for 2025 amounts to N426 billion, which is higher than last year’s budget for the state.
“There has been an increase in revenue generation performance this year as leakages have been blocked,” said the commissioner.
Gajam stressed that the Zamfara State budget is promising and designed to change the narrative for a better future for the people in the state.
He further revealed that there has been increased growth in capital development compared to previous administrations.
He maintained that several projects in the primary healthcare and
education sectors are currently undergoing significant reconstruction and renovations in the state.
“You may recall that recently a state of emergency was declared in the education and health sectors in the state.”
The commissioner emphasised that it is now time for Governor Lawal’s administration to focus on positive change.
“It is now time for the administration of Lawal to demonstrate accountability and prudent management of the state’s scarce resources.”
In their remarks, the Emirs of Zamfara, who spoke through the chairman of the state council of chiefs, His Royal Highness the Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Mohammed Anka, acknowledged and appreciated the state government’s due process in implementing the 2024 budget.
He also commended Governor Lawal for his proactive measures regarding the payment of pensions and gratuities in the state.
