The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, Benjamin Omale says the party has set up a reconciliation committee to tour the 23 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state to pacify aggrieved members.
He assured that the leadership would ensure that its mandate of ensuring peace in the party in the state is achieved and members of the party come together as one family.
The Chairman made this known weekend when he hosted the Caretaker leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Benue State Council led by its Chairman, Vincent Nyinongu at the State Secretariat of the party in Makurdi.
He noted that his Committee had a six month mandate to ensure that peace returned to the party, emphasising that the leadership was striving hard and taking every step and initiative to unite all aggrieved members.
He said “already a reconciliation committee has been constituted to tour the 23 LGAs of the state to enable us achieve the mandate of reconciling all aggrieved parties. And I can assure you that before the expiration of our term, this will be achieved.”
While appealing for collaboration between the media and the party, he admonished journalists to uphold professionalism by ensuring accuracy and correctness in their reportage.
He commended Governor Hyacinth Alia “for the good works he is doing in the state because under him the state has witnessed transformative growth in the various sectors of the state.”
He urged journalists in the state to engage in developmental journalism by projecting the developmental strides of the Governor.
Earlier, Secretary of the Committee, Prof. Bem Angwe passionately appealed to aggrieved members to sheath their swords assuring that the committee was determined to ensure peace in the party.
He also cautioned members against instigating crisis in the party and urged those involved to desist.
The Chairman of NUJ had earlier disclosed that the visit was to enable the NUJ leadership familiarize with the leadership of the ruling party in the state and also intimate the party’s leadership of the coming delegates election of the union.
