Meta Platforms has announced that its AI chatbot, Meta AI, will integrate Reuters content to provide real-time answers to users’ questions on news and current events.
This marks Meta’s first major news partnership in several years, as the company has scaled back news content on its platforms amid scrutiny from regulators and disputes with publishers over revenue sharing and misinformation.
Meta AI, available on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, will feature Reuters news summaries and links in responses, though specific terms of the deal remain confidential.
This partnership builds on an existing fact-checking collaboration between Reuters and Meta since 2020.
Similar alliances are being pursued across the tech industry, with companies like OpenAI and Perplexity also securing partnerships with news providers.
