The New York Post has officially endorsed former President Trump for the presidency, emphasizing that his accomplishments during his previous term in office outweigh concerns about his “ridiculously hyperbolic” statements.
The editorial board praised Trump for demonstrating the same vigor and strength as he did in 2016, asserting that the choice between him and Kamala Harris presents a clear and crucial decision for voters. “Donald Trump is the right choice,” the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper declared, marking a notable shift in its stance as election day approaches.
This endorsement comes after a series of criticisms the Post had previously directed at Trump, particularly regarding his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the events leading up to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. In 2022, the Post described Trump as “unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” Despite this, the editorial highlighted Trump’s pre-pandemic successes, including rising wages, record-low unemployment, a secure border, and international peace.
Following the endorsement, Trump expressed gratitude on his Truth Social platform, sharing the newspaper’s cover story featuring him and thanking the Post for its support.
