U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents intercepted a vehicle attempting to cross into the United States that was loaded with over 355 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at approximately $3.2 million.
Brownsville Port of Entry Director Tater Ortiz emphasized the importance of the CBP officers’ efforts, stating, “Our CBP officers use different enforcement tools as they conduct their inspections to keep our borders secure, and their efforts yielded this significant narcotics seizure.”
The incident took place on October 18 at the Veterans International Bridge, which links Brownsville, Texas, to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, in Mexico.
During a secondary inspection, agents flagged a 2006 Ford, and both a canine unit and a nonintrusive inspection system revealed the presence of drugs. While the exact weight of the seizure was recorded at 355.36 pounds, CBP has not provided details regarding the vehicle’s driver.
