A two-storey building under construction in Amangwu Ohokobe Ndume, Umuahia North LGA, Abia State, collapsed on October 19, 2024. Fortunately, no workers were inside at the time. Residents blamed the collapse on substandard materials and poor supervision.
The site engineer reportedly disappeared after the incident. This follows a previous building collapse in June in Ukwa West LGA, Abia State, which claimed five lives.
