A member of the stakeholders committee of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Sanusi Baban-Takko, has chided former minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi for calling on Nigerian youths to stage a protest against hunger and other teething problems ravaging the country’s population.
Baban-Takko expressed regret that such a highly placed Nigerian public figure in the person of a former state assembly speaker, former governor, former minister and a presidential aspirant in last elections like Rotimi Amaechi could lower himself to instigate youths to anarchy.
Amaechi recently expressed surprise that Nigerians particularly the youth have not taken to the streets over the hardship in the country occasioned by the policies introduced by the President Bola Tinunu administration.
Baban-Takko, in a press conference yesterday in Bauchi, described the statement by the former minister as the display of the highest level of unpatriotism.
Baban-Takko recalled, “In my very presence, His Excellency President Bola Tinubu was one of those who with all sincerity and clean heart recommended Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi to the then President Muhammadu Buhari to be appointed as a cabinet minister, contrary to opposition from his home state and the entire geo-political zone.”
He added, “It beat my imagination that same disloyalty Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi shows to his benefactor (Dr. Peter Odili) he can do the same to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with his recent vituperation calling on Nigerian youths to revolt against President Bola Tinunu’s Government”.
He advised Rotimi Amaechi to learn the doctrine of politics without bitterness, stressing “The fact that he lost to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a widest margin of votes, that doesn’t meant he should rock the boat, leading path to destructions of lives and properties of fellow Nigerians”.
According to him, Rotimi Amaechi should always learn to be loyal to those who have helped him one way or the other in reaching his present position and status in life, knowing fully well that what goes around comes around.
