CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is primarily derived from:
1. Natural Gas Wells: CNG is extracted from underground natural gas reservoirs.
2. Associated Gas: CNG is also obtained as a byproduct of crude oil production.
3. Non-Associated Gas: CNG is extracted from gas-only reservoirs.
4. Coal Bed Methane: CNG is extracted from coal deposits.
5. Biomethane: CNG is produced from organic waste, agricultural waste, or sewage.
Main sources:
1. Conventional natural gas fields
2. Unconventional sources (shale gas, tight gas, coal seam gas)
3. Renewable sources (biogas, biomethane)
CNG composition:
1. Methane (CH4): 85-95%
2. Ethane (C2H6): 3-8%
3. Propane (C3H8): 1-3%
4. Butane (C4H10): 1-2%
5. Other gases (N2, CO2, H2S): 1-5%
CNG production process:
1. Exploration and extraction
2. Processing (separation, purification)
3. Compression
4. Storage
5. Transportation (pipelines, tankers)
