EPL referee chief Howard Webb reveals that there have been only two VAR errors this season, shedding light on the controversial decisions in English football.
Since its introduction to the English top flight in 2019, VAR has sparked significant controversy.
However, Webb emphasizes that the use of the technology is getting better and errors are being eliminated following a rocky beginning.
During an appearance on the Stick to Football Podcast, Webb mentioned that they didn’t effectively manage expectations regarding VAR.
We always understood that it would perform well in situations where the error is obvious at first glance.
“We have an independent panel consisting of former players that reviews each decision weekly. According to them, there have been only two VAR errors this season compared to ten at the same point last year.”
