Sani warns that Wike is not above the PDP and suggests the FCT Minister may face suspension as tensions within the party rise.
Umar Sani, the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former Vice President Namadi Sambo, has suggested that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may take disciplinary action against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Sani stated that the PDP’s disciplinary committee has become active in fulfilling its duties and could potentially discipline Wike, as he is not beyond the party’s authority.
During an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Sani stated that there was no committee established when Wike’s alleged infractions occurred.
However, he noted that the recent establishment of a disciplinary committee, led by Chief Tom Ikimi, might prompt the party to consider taking action against those who violate its rules.
Sani stated that the matter has been oversimplified, with many portraying it as a conflict between Abubakar Atiku and Nyesom Wike.
However, the primary driving force is the Governors’ Forum. Previously inactive, it has now become active and is diligently working to resolve the crisis.
Although a court order might inhibit the removal of officials, it does not prevent the party from suspending members or enforcing disciplinary measures.
There wasn’t a disciplinary committee in place when Wike reportedly broke party rules.
Now that a committee has been established, let’s allow them the time they need to fulfill their responsibilities before jumping to conclusions about Wike being above party rules. We’ll wait for any recommendations on disciplinary actions against him.
