During a recent interview with Channels Television, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, addressed the growing political tension between himself and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. Wike, who was the former governor of Rivers State, explained that he had always wanted the best for Fubara, even before he officially became governor.
Wike highlighted some of the actions he took to show his support for Fubara. First, he said that before Fubara became governor, he made sure Fubara attended executive council meetings so he could learn how things were run. He mentioned that he didn’t have that opportunity when he was becoming governor himself.
Wike also shared how he personally took Fubara to Germany to visit the headquarters of Julius Berger, the construction company working on a major road project in Rivers State, known as the Ring Road. Wike advised Fubara that completing the Ring Road would make his second term as governor easier. He even told Fubara that focusing on finishing important projects would make him very popular, reducing the chances of any competition in future elections.
Through these actions, Wike stressed that he only wanted Fubara to succeed, and these were clear signs that he meant well for his administration.
