The APC NWC Caretaker Chairman, Tony Okocha, has made confessions that he rigged elections in the past and never concealed that fact.
He contended that, as a whistleblower, he ought to receive compensation for disclosing the methods used in local government election manipulation. He went on to defend his previous behavior by drawing a comparison between himself and an ex-armed robber.
Additionally, he claimed that the APC’s recently reinstated chairman, Emeka Beke, had also participated in election tampering while Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, was in office.
In a Channels TV interview, he stated, ‘’On the issue of whether I once rigged an election, I didn’t hide it. And I should even be paid as a whistleblower.”
Are you saying if you were once an armed robber yesterday and today you come to confess that you stole something somewhere, are you now saying that the law will not take strong action against the thief? The answer is no.”
The reason why we have said so and we will keep saying is because of what is going on as we speak.
So when you have an idea of this election rigging and you see the other person also wanting to use the same tactics that are very known to you, you will shout. And that is one of the reasons why we went to the court.”
“All of us were together, including Emeka Beke, and we were rigging the elections back then. He was with us on the other side.’’
